This groundbreaking immersive stage production, created by local playwright Terrhonda Hillman, brings the rich and layered history of Mansfield, Texas, to life in a way never before seen at Farr Best Theater. Originally envisioned as a special May Gala experience, the production has now evolved into something even greater. The previously scheduled gala was postponed and thoughtfully merged into the full theatrical production of "The Porch", allowing for a deeper, more powerful, and fully immersive experience for the community. This decision was made to ensure the story of Mansfield is told with the excellence, depth, and impact it deserves.
Guided by Thomas and Elijah, two wise and witty storytellers seated on the porch, audiences will laugh, reflect, and sometimes even cry as they revisit the triumphs, challenges, and defining moments that shaped Mansfield from its earliest beginnings to the vibrant city it is today.
With actors moving throughout the audience, immersive sound, visual projections, and powerful storytelling surrounding every seat, guests won’t simply watch history—they will feel it. From moments of celebration and growth to the more difficult chapters that demand reflection, "The Porch" invites the community into a shared experience of understanding, healing, and unity.
