Pottery Wheel Throwing Basics
Have you ever wanted to try throwing clay on a pottery wheel? This beginner-friendly class is designed for those with little or no wheel experience and introduces the foundational skills needed to create functional ceramic pieces.
Participants will learn the basics of wheel throwing, including how to prepare clay, center it on the wheel, and shape simple forms. Throughout the class, we will focus on creating cylinders, bowls, cups, and small vessels while developing an understanding of form, balance, and technique. Students will also learn essential pottery vocabulary, basic trimming techniques, and tips for successful results on the wheel.
This class emphasizes practice, patience, and exploration in a supportive environment. By the end of the session, participants will have a stronger understanding of the pottery wheel process and the skills to continue developing their ceramic work.
No prior experience is necessary. All supplies and tools are provided unless otherwise noted. Come prepared to get your hands dirty and discover the joy of transforming a lump of clay into something both beautiful and functional.
