Discover Wire Sculpture: Hands-On Intro with Robin Moody
Join artist Robin Moody for a relaxing, hands-on Intro to Wire Sculpture workshop where you'll create your own dynamic wire figure of the human form in motion—ready to display and proud to show off! Unlike painting or drawing, wire sculpture is wonderfully forgiving: if a limb or pose isn't quite right, simply unwind and reshape the wire until it feels perfect. The result is a lively, three-dimensional piece that changes beautifully from every angle, capturing energy and movement in a way flat art can't.
What you'll do:
You'll start by choosing a dynamic human pose from a curated set of inspiring photos (dancers, athletes, everyday motion—whatever sparks joy). Robin will guide you one-on-one to select a pose that's achievable and exciting for your skill level. Through encouraging, step-by-step coaching, you'll learn how to:
- Bend and shape wire to form realistic limbs, torso, and proportions
- Build natural-looking curves and gestures
- Create balance and flow for that sense of real motion
By the end of the workshop, your finished figure will be securely mounted on a pre-finished wooden base (supplied) and coated with an anti-rust finish—so it's gallery-ready to take home the same day. What's included
All materials:
- quality wire, pliers and tools
- Finished wooden mounting board
- Light snacks (bananas, pretzels, etc.) and bottled water to keep your energy up
- Supportive, personalized instruction in a small, friendly group
What to bring:
- Optional: leather or gardening gloves (wire work can make hands a bit dirty—though heavy-duty hand cleaner will be available)
- Clothes that can get slightly dirty (the wire has a light oil coating to prevent rust, but it washes out easily—save your favorite white cashmere for another day!)
No prior experience needed—just curiosity and a willingness to play! This is the perfect low-pressure way to try 3D art, unwind creatively, and leave with a unique, personal sculpture you'll love displaying. Spots are limited—reserve your place today and go home with a moving wire figure you're truly proud of!
