Creative Journaling: Exploring Mixed Media
This hands-on course will guide participants through the process of creating a personalized journal and exploring various mixed media techniques to fill it.
Schedule:
10:00 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. | Welcome & Introduction
Icebreaker activity: Share your favorite journaling experience or what you hope to learn.Overview of the day’s agenda.
10:15 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. | Journal Creation
Materials Needed: Blank journals, decorative paper, scissors, glue, washi tape, markers, and other decorative supplies. Demonstration on how to make a simple DIY journal using available supplies. Participants create their journals.
10:45 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. | Introduction to Mixed Media
Discussion Topics: What is mixed media?Different materials and techniques (collage, painting, stamping, etc.)Showcase examples of mixed media journals for inspiration.
11:15 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. | Break
11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. | Mixed Media Techniques Workshop
Activity 1: Collage Making - Using magazines, fabric scraps, and other materials. Activity 2: Painting & Doodling - Explore watercolor, acrylics, and markers. Activity 3: Stamping & Texture - Create unique textures using stamps, stencils, and found objects.
12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. | Filling Your Journal
Tips on how to combine different techniques. Guided prompts to start writing or creating art in the journal. Examples of prompts: Today’s Mood - A Place I Want to Visit/A Quote That Inspires Me
1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. | Sharing & Feedback
Participants share their favorite pages or techniques they’ve used so far. Group feedback and encouragement.
1:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. | Wrap-Up & Future Ideas
Discuss ways to continue journaling and exploring mixed media.Q&A session.
